Myne: *makes other types of ink*

Ink Association: And I took that personally lol

norigami • 2 years ago

Just wait until she starts selling cheaper textbooks to the university.

University textbook association: "Someone's selling textbooks for less than a fortune? Peace was never an option..."

Aqua • 2 years ago

That's not really the problem. Problem is she's gonna kick of the printing press and good lord that's a royal mess coz it's gonna make suppressed constituents smarter let alone it's gonna kick of MEDIA "Oh yes, you can smell it in the air already. Propaganda cake anyone?" and you don't want that if you're a lord. Nobody likes subjects smarter than you and they are many and eventually everyone is a threat and you can't do anything about it.

If i think about it further she's gonna cause such a mess even royalty would want her dead and church would make her a saint coz spreading religion through text to everyone would make them stronger. See the problem, even the bishops would lick her boots. Ahhhhhhhhhh history, it's not without blood but this is a wholesome anime so I GUESS that won't happen. Interesting plot twist though, becoming a paragon herself.

dre • 2 years ago

Considering what happened when the printing press was created in real life and the upheaval it caused... you'd expect some dramatic impact if it makes it into the anime. Although I expect we'll never see that in the anime. That's probably more of a longer term project for her and she already has plenty of stuff to deal with.

Miroku • 2 years ago

Eh, I could see it being forgotten for a while, then come back at the end of the season with Johann being like "Hey I finished it! Can you be my pa--" and Myne just saying "Finished what?"

Hikotan • 2 years ago

A literal "Royal mess"...

Aqua • 2 years ago

Well, she isnt doing it on purpose. Shes just a nerd with needs and even if the world around her turns upside down and kicked off the medieval information era its a small price to pay just to have her own Baghdad House of Wisdom. Not her fault PEOPLE use these tools to serve their agendas imma right, its like the creator of dynamite Sir Nobel "he even won a nobel prize and accepted his blood money with a big smile on his face" not his fault people blew each other up, he didnt invent dynamite for that purpose. Ahhhhhh humanity, when a creation is born we always finds nefarious ways to use them and yes i mean every sigle thing we created, no exaggeration OK and i mean EVERYTHING. Name it and we used it for bad things, so are we the baddies. Maybe, MAYBE.

ChromeVolt • 1 year ago

You mentioned a lot of things I would say in an argument. Yeah, Nobel was like "I invented this explosive to be used in mining. My brother even died for it, it is for the betterment of humanity's progress" and yet people blew each other up for it.
Speaking of religion, Jesus himself said "don't worship me but the Father"(not exact words but that's his gospel) and yet we have quasi-religions worshipping him.
They say it's because he is the Son of God or the Savior or something, bit it's different if you worship him or "through him."

Creating the Printing Press is the same as creating the Industrial Revolution; but not the way that England did, but like how the Soviet Union, and Mao's China did.

The Radio can contribute to the tech revolution seen about the Cold War Era, while the Internet kickstarted the Age of Information.

Cheaper books would be a boon to the Royals, and impacts only the Scribes, whom would be grateful as they weren't making money on copying books... I'm not personally aware of any point in history prior to the Industrial Age, where Scrolls & Books were written for profit; the history of Math, and the struggles they went through to retain that information until the Printing Press is astounding.

It goes without saying, this is all my opinion; feel free to correct me.

norigami • 2 years ago

My comment doesn't quite stand up, but I was trying to poke fun at our system for educational textbooks - not really a system, rather just the way it is - where publishers are able to command high prices for textbooks due to lack of competition between publishers and educators sticking to the textbooks they are familiar with.

Aqua • 2 years ago

Then Internet happened LoL. FREE BOOKS and then some. After reading you can go browse for some funny HA HA pictures ^.^ or the browse for enriching CULTURE.

norigami • 2 years ago

Yup! Once we democratized the flow of information by developing the internet, what did we fill it with? Pictures of cats and lewds! LOL

QuadL • 2 years ago

I will correct some wrong you mentioned. Soviet and Mao's China didn't print information for the masses. They printed propaganda and force fed it to the masses to indoctrinate them into communist ideology, Those who were already educated were massacred by the millions and "re-educated". What Myne is doing is more in line with Gutenburg who's most famous printing was the "Gutenburg Bible" and once the masses got a good grip on what was actually written in scripture this became the seed of the reformation which set off all kinds of conflicts.

Aqua • 2 years ago

No correction and going wild with that train of thought. The cheaper they make it and production cost can handle making it in bulk, the more it's accessible to the lower class peeps and they start developing brain cells. Church was too strong coz of the rapid spread of religion then a priest gets pissed off and started saying all of it is Bullshit. Much Scam, Frick the Church and here's 95 reasons why in PRINT, what could go wrong? Oh Protestant Reformation, i just wanted to make a few gold doubloons. Church didn't quite like that ^.^ EXCOMMUNICATED "Good thing not John Wick version". And if that wasn't bad enough the peasants grew brain cells and voila Peasant War and started looting and going wild "Sounds familiar, LOOTING? OUTRAGE? probably just my imagination". Ahhhhh it's like i'm on a mobius strip, round and round and round we go coz yeah we gone full circle.

World is wild, welcome to the jungle i guess. Atleast some things never change no matter how many centuries it's been.

Yes, Ink Guild has chosen Death...šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

Kirito • 2 years ago

It's just an ink and that guy kidnaped a kid

Halcion Smith • 2 years ago

It's not "just an ink." It's the livelihood of hundreds, if not thousands, of people that are at stake. If there is other methods of ink making, and a child figured it out, that makes it a detriment to their livelihoods. The price of ink will tank, and many people will lose their jobs.

Not justifying the response, but to say, "it's just ink," is to ignore the real world ramifications of a Free Market on a society not built for a Free Market.

HD Escone • 2 years ago

They have been monopolizing the market of ink making for generations, which goes against everything that a free market stands for lmao, even now they're trying desperately, going as far as assaulting a child over it like the corporation they are, like the ones in our modern times. Regardless of how many people lose their jobs over this if Maine's new ink can topple them its progress, a few people losing their jobs over it pales in comparison how many more people can get accessed to ink lol, you cant have progress without a bit of people being sacrificed, thats just how the cookie crumbles

GundamGoku • 2 years ago

You are misunderstanding something. There is no free market. This medieval society. Introducing different forms of dyes and inks. Building a printing press. These things in REAL LIFE. Lead to multiple wars. Hundreds of thousands died. You can't look at this from a modern view point or at the microlevel. The free market, Democracy, religious freedom, the end of slavery. These did not come from nothing. They were fought over. In bloody wars. We see it as frivolous now. But you have to understand that her pursuit to making books readily available doesn't uproot just the market, It changes things in how people receive information. People can read holy scripture and make up their own minds on it. They can make pamphlets. Readily spread information and misinformation. Especially if ink and printing is cheap and readily available. Progress can be damaging. It is overall a good thing. The argument can be made that conservatives and traditionalists of this era would have a huge backlash against it. You are attempting to seize power from those who wish to keep the status quo. Even if unintentional. Others may use these new tools to seize power. the Protestant reformation, the French Revolution, the 30 years war, the Enlightenment. All find their lead cause with the creation of the Gutenberg press and ink becoming more plentiful. The Pen is mightier than the Sword is not some exaggeration.

QuadL • 2 years ago

Well said, well said. Still must protect Myne, ink guild chose death.

Sven Stevenson • 2 years ago

They dont exactly have a free market hence the merchant guild, parchment guild, ink guild, more or less tradesmen unions established to protect their specific interests/trade secrets and control/eliminate threats.

narayana • 2 years ago

Not adopting to recent technology will lead to lot of downfall.... Even in real life many companies monopolised market suffered great deal of damage

Annecy Change • 2 years ago

Death by ink.

Kirito • 2 years ago

There's another type of ink from plants and stuff lol and they are crazy about that

Aqua • 2 years ago

Well, think of it like Coke "Not the one that makes you feel funny". Then you hear someone just invented a new kind of coke and called it pepsi "or lets just continue down and say someone invented crystal meth". The merchant guild didn't quite like that coz yeah competition and now they want to take you to the desert and bury you there in 4 different places "yes, they will cut you up and bury you in 4 different places". Capitalism bruh, the dream has always been and forever will be Monopoly "Just ask Bill Gates ^.^"

In recent memory this is my second most look forward to anime/isekai, if not for MT it would be #1 and was up until MT got green lit for adapation.

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

OK folks, this season's gonna be on the shorter side of things, because S3 has a total of 10 episodes.

Sprayquaza • 2 years ago

Seems they are wrapping up this arc since last season ended in cliffhanger . Chances of a continuation looking real bleak rn :"D

Noah Winns-Cromer • 2 years ago

And if I recall, S2 was finished when COVID shut down everything two years ago.
Wouldn't be surprised if studio Ajia-Do had to change plans because of the pandemic, and I don't just mean with this, but their other projects they got going on.

Chill Pill Pls • 2 years ago

I'm not so sure. The light novel is set up and split up according to arcs in her life, so it could be less of covid and more that her time at the church comes to an end? I think that's how they split the first season up into season 1 and then season 2 (I think it was meant to be season 1, part two, we just went with season 2). I can't imagine Myne having much longer in the church due to Ferdinand's last conversation in season 2. So, it could just be that she's leaving the church at the end of this season. Or, maybe it's another split season and we'll see another ten episodes come fall.
Course; I could just be being an over reaching optimist. I've always felt that all the fear mongering over covid made it worse than it actually had to be. I work a tourist job and never had the slightest cold for the last two years.

Seosamh Wray • 2 years ago

The fact that less than 1% (according to a google search I just did we're still at worldwide less than 2 million dead and this is with anybody dying with it being counted, regardless of whether this particular virus actually did the killing blow or they died of something else) of infected have died alongside the weaker newer variants not being any worse than a bad cold is a clear indicator that we probably shouldn't have decided that the entire world needs to be shut up inside their homes with no human contact for two years was the best response to the disease. It's also now become the go-to excuse whenever something that was being worked on in the past couple of years gets delayed or cancelled, "it must be because of COVID". The panic over the virus has been worse than the virus itself.

roostermako • 2 years ago

dont spread lies willingly. any schmuck can take a look and see: 500 reported cases worldwide, 6 million reported deaths.

QuadL • 2 years ago

500 cases? but 6 million deaths? I guess it must really be over with just five hundred cases... so what is 6,000,000 of 7,000,000,000? like... 0.086% wow, less than 1/10th of one percent of the world population died of Covid even after messaging the death numbers...

roostermako • 2 years ago

don't be a smart ass. i obviously meant 500 million, which is now up to 510 million. the issue you arent understanding is that, these arent just numbers. these are peoples lives. people like you and me, people with families, siblings, friends, all dead. the population of the planet isnt relevant except for pointing out how lucky we are that it didnt spread unchecked. i dont know if you can conceptualize it, the amount of death that is. even one death brings incredible pain and despair into the world for the people a person leaves behind. its easy to look at a number as just a statistic, but these are real peoples lives. it could be a parent, a grandparent, a friend, anyone you care about, even you; they could easily be one of the unlucky ones that don't survive. you can keep thinking of it with an immature view, one message like this probably wont get you to understand, but the level of nonchalance people have about so many people having died is disgusting.

Chill Pill Pls • 2 years ago

agreed. I have a friend who knows people who work in the hospital morgue near where I live, and apparently they're being told to mark as many deaths as possible as covid, regardless of what they actually died of. Ex: suicide=covid, heart attack= covid, stage 4 renal disease= covid. Also, the test they use for covid testing can't tell the difference between viruses. So any virus comes up positive; covid, flu, or noro. And this is backed up bc the flu cases went way down (like, lowest records in foreverrrrr) while covid cases went up.

So, yeah. Covid=bad. Covid does not = global panic time. or even a little panic time.

roostermako • 2 years ago

dont spread fake hearsay and rumors. "friend who knows people" makes you two degrees separated. you cant verify it as true, so dont spread it.

Kagamis • 2 years ago

It's the same thing as "for my friend/doing research" excuse. It's to not give away private information. It could be their friend, family or even themselves who know it, and they don't want someone to get fired cuz of it. I can confirm it myself: this is true. Too many deaths are blamed on covid.
